Help. I was tinkering today and fuel started coming out if the top of this reservoir thing that feeds the carb. I tightened the nut thing in the top a bit but it still flows from the nut area. It's not the feed pipe. Not really sure what to, should / can I get a replacement one? Can't see how the fuel gets from this to the carb. Is it by the connector underneath? Sorry if I sound like I don't know what I am doing. Try and keep it in laymans terms.

Possibly the float chamber needle and seating is faulty and needs replacing so allowing the float chamber to flood.
The fuel gets from the float chamber to the main jet via the casting at the bottom of the float chamber and which is attached the main body of the carb[frame][/frame]
Undo the bolt on the top and the float chamber lid can be removed.
To check that the float valve is not leaking undo the feed hose press the float fingers (to seal the needle valve) and blow down the inlet pipe there should be no blow past. If there is blow past a new needle and seat is required.
Also check that there are no leaks in the float - shake the float and is there fuel inside the float - if there is the float will need to be replaced. Place the float in hot water and if there is a leak bubbles will show from the leak.
Thanks Philthehill ok i will check all those tomorrow, in the mean time i have taken the top off jiggled the arm and needle a bit and refitted, now there just seems to be little fuel coming from the join between the cap and the sides, the float seemed to sit low in the fuel so maybe its a duffer. will check all those things tomorrow!! i only went out to adjust the brakes !!
i have also noticed that the choke seems to make no difference to the speed the engine runs, on my old fiesta as you pulled the choke out the revs would increase. i have moved the choke lever, bypassing the cable but still no change in revs, should there be? could this be connected?
It's not connected, but there is a screw that you should turn to lift the revs as the 'choke' (it's not really a choke..) is pulled. The other screw lifts the revs at normal idle - when the choke is not pulled....
