Traveller Hinge Position

Post by John Naylor »

When Bertie went to the paint shop the rear door hinges were labelled top and bottom, left and right but during painting they could have easily been mixed. The paint shop refitted the doors and the fit is quite 'different', they need some trimming and the central seal between the 2 doors is yet to be fitted. How do I tell if they are correctly positioned (top and bottom look the same to me)? There are some letters in the castings but nothing to suggest position.

First thing I did was search for previous posts but still unable to find anything. Looked at all the Travellers at Elsecar today and still none the wiser. In the castings are the letters GR L or H but their position varies from car to car.... Have stared at the hinges and there are right hand and left hand hinges but are there differences between top and bottom?

Many thanks, Panky, I have studied the photos in your link for ages and still can't see a difference between top and bottom hinges. I suppose the only way is to swap a pair round to see if there is any difference to the door fit!
