As my Moggie is now stripped to the shell I thought I might make a start on the panels.
The bonnet is very pitted, but sound.
What do I need to do to clean it up and get rid of the pitting please?

Bonnet is the least of the worries! I would concentrate on the shell first - doors/bonnet/boot can all be replaced or repaired later. We need to see the 'pitting' to advise how to go forward. But generally - you must abrade away all 'rust' down to shiny metal - treat with anti-rust chemicals, fill and sand to make an absolutely flat surface -and then prime and paint!

The best way is to get the bonnet media blasted by a company that is used to blasting car panels, i.e. low pressure and wont distort the panel.
I would then paint the panel with a couple of coats of Brantho Korrux Nitrofest, which is a rust retardant high build primer.
If you have to resort to wire brush on drill/ grinder and sand paper leaving some pits I would use the Brantho Korrux Rust primer orange which can actually stabilise the remains of rusted pits.

Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Anyone tried this, the only limit is the size of your tank.

Sorry to drag this thread back up.
Had a bit of a break from the Moggie, but back on track now.
Can I use the steel knotted wire brushes on the panels which fits onto an angle grinder or is this too harsh?
