ENGINE REMOVAL

When removing the engine,which of the nuts/bols are removed.Looking at the brackets,the engine will be pulling against the angle of the 4 bolts on the rubber mountings.I have removed all the other fastenings ,but these seem to be awkward .

Remove one engine mounting tower completely and the two nuts from the other tower move the engine sideways away from the remaining tower to free the front engine plate, pull the engine forward making sure that the gearbox is well supported.
Once free of the gearbox turn the engine 90 degrees across the engine bay and lift completely clear.[frame][/frame]

If you are careful there is no need to remove the front grill panels. Whilst it states above that you can remove the engine without removing the radiator my preference would be to remove the radiator so as not to catch and damage it when removing the engine.

Thank, I am removing the engine and gearbox,I need to replace the clutch ,while I am restoring the car

Remove the radiator and front panel if you are taking out in one lump and undo the prop shaft and various cables

I have read somewhere that the rear of the gearbox,needs to be lowered when removing the engine and box as one.I have removed the bolts at the rear of the box and the cross member and the rear of the box is supported by my jack.If I now lower it,will the prop come away from the g/box

Disconnect the prop shaft from the dif on the rear axle (4 bolts) and then slide it backwards out of the gearbox. Drain the gearbox oil before removal, or id will pour out of the opening where the shaft was.
