Minor engine code.

Hi all,

My Minor had a good used engine fitted a couple of thousand miles ago, but instead of a 1098 I think it has a 900cc engine fitted? It goes very well indeed either way.

The code is, 8G162 ES36513

Any ideas?

It's just a recon engine number. Doesn't indicate capacity. If it's going well - be happy!

Ah, Ok! How do I find out the capacity? It's a real peach of an engine.. (probably best part of the car!)

Show us some pictures.... and look under the rocker cover - is the head marked 12G202 ?? If so = 1098 cylinder head, so likely a 1098 engine.

948 engine will have 950 cast in the block below the front tappet chest cover, 1098 will have 1100 on a tag in the same place

Nothing under the front tappet chest cover.... but under the rear it says 12A497NRMC 23758 26

Just a casting number - so it's NOT a 948 engine... Pictures?? Under the rocker cover ?

Pics to follow, but the only other numbers I can see are cast below the front rocker cover, they appear to be 771 but are behind a breather pipe.
