all about the timing
evenin' all, just a quick question regarding my timing adjustment, the general procedure from what i gather from here is to twist the dizzy clockwise until it pink and the back it off a touch, the only issue being that even with the clamp backed right off my distributor seem to move anti clockwise fairly freely although it'll only go clockwise so far and then "lock" or just won't budge anymore and it seems not far enough to induce any pinking, i'm trying to optimise my timing and without being able to find the pinking to back it off from I feel like I'm stabbing in the dark somewhat! also, i assume after timing adjustment the mixture must be corrected?
Re: all about the timing
Have you slackened the pinch bolt - not just the two holding bolts, which are in slotted holes? Is an HT cable, or the vacuum pipe stopping the dizzy ? And yes - spark and mixture have to be balanced whenever either is moved.
