Fuel Gauge fault?

Post by Gareth Rogers »

My 1098 Traveller broke down yesterday due to points closing up, at the exact moment she died, the fuel gauge shot up to full ( it had been on half full ) Do you think these 2 events could be connected or is it just coincidence? The sender unit is only 2 years old, one of the rectangular types for 948cc minors, gauge is the 'gold' type.

I rather doubt any connection.... Does the car run ok now with just the points gap corrected?

Well - I guess coincidence - unless there was some 'jerking' when the engine was failing, which has caused a short on the lead to the tank . If you remove the lead from the tank - does anything change ?
