VIN number query

Post by Henners »

Can anyone advise me as to whether a VIN number for a 1969 2-door saloon (now a convertible) is genuine. I understand the MA2S but then have seven digits starting 512 but understood the production run didn't number that high, and I'm confused.

The 5 is most likely part of the start code MA2S5. The 5 is used in order to say that the car is a 1098cc morris minor. Hope this helps.

M/ = Morris
A = A series engine
2 = 2dr
S = Saloon
5 = 5 series
(Chassis number 12????? - 7 digits)
M = Cowley factory
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
