FUEL TANK

Post by BLOWNMM »

G'day all
I am thinking of fitting a 6.5 gal. heratige fuel tank FUL 101 to my 1952 MM. Has anybody done this conversion? If so can the spare wheel still be accommodated and does the fuel gauge still read accurately.
Cheers Bob

I fitted a 6.5 gallon tank to my Series MM many years ago. Yes you can fit a 155/14 spare on top of the tank as well as a spare set of gaskets. The fuel gauge works fine although you may have to tweek the adjusters on the back of the gauge. You will also have to change the spare wheel clamp as the tyre sits higher. The only modification I can remember making was having to cut the fuel pipe under the car and exiting the tank and joining the two sections with a length of flexible fuel line. I cannot remember if this was because I could not remove the pipe from one of the tanks or the tanks had different threads.
Could you please send me the details of your car for the register.
