Quarterlight query

Post by 67-2door »

Hi.
I've just bought a set of stainless window frames & quarterlights for my 2 door saloon and I've noticed that on one of them the large diameter pivot pin on the bottom of the quarterlight is a loose fit and wobbles about a little. Does this matter in use? And if so is it possible to tighten it up? I presume it would involve removing the glass from the quarterlight.
Thanks.
Neil.

if you look at the frame which faces the inside of the car there are two big phillips screws.the idea is when its fitted you tighten these big screws which clamps onto the pivot pin, this is to make it stiffer to close as when your driving at say 50mph the air flow off the windscreen tends to keep closing it which is very annoying. having said all that make sure its not rusted up solid and it has some resistance before fitting. its not an easy job to keep taking the frame in and out of the door, hope this helps, Mackie the Collie

i forgot to mention you dont have to take the quarter light glass out of the frame, just undo the top pivot little screws and then you can lift the quarter light out frame and glass complete, now where is my ball!

The frames & quarterlights are out the car and dismantled at the moment. It's the large pivot pin in the base of one of the quarterlights that's loose in the quarterlight itself, would this be a problem?
Also before I fit the stainless units to the car, is it a good idea to replace all the rubbers & seals and build the window frames up complete before fitting them?
Thanks.
Neil.
