Hi,
So I am trying to identify what colour my Morris minor is from the numbers stamped into the plate on the bulkhead. However it seems a number is missing and is making things a bit complicated!
The plate reads : FCU_1/ 641955
I've deduces the F means its a Morris minor
C means convertible, and U means dark green and the 1 means synthetic.
However, from what i gather, the space should have a number which tells me the sales market.
So the car should be dark green however it isn't, yes it is green but it looks different to pictures of 'dark green' minors, there isn't any evidence of a respray so I am left stumped.
So I was wondering whether the fact it doesn't have a sales market number influences the colour?
The reason I am asking is because I need to do some repairs to the body and I want to ensure I paint it in the matching colour.
Thank you,
Jasper

Oh and I forgot to add, the car seems too old to have synthetic paint?
And the number stamped into the metal just below the plate with the chassis number and engine number is slightly different to the one stamped into the plate - number stamped into the metal is 341955 whereas the number on the plate is 641955. just seems a bit odd.

One for super sleuth Chris, known as POMMReg on here!
I suggest you locate and accurately record the body number, as Chris can usually give you guidance to the build date of the body. which in turn will suggest which car chassis number is correct, if any. This strip of numbers should be right at the top of the bulkhead on the right hand side above the petrol pump.

Do you think the paint may have faded over the years?
