Actually - that example is already a triple expansion engine - since the hot gases after expanding in the 'extra' cylinder are then run to the turbo charger where they are expanded further through the turbine blades...... They get a lot of power from the 700cc.... although I doubt that includes the swept volume of the extra cylinder. The internal combustion engine is not dead yet!
