"Coast" Magazine cover.

Snuck out of school today to go to the Post Office which is situated at the back of a general merchants/newsagents store ( A McColls for those who know them). AS I glanced quickly at the magazines I noticed a magazine I'd never seen before called "Coast". On the cover is a lovely duck-egg blue Traveller with a spare wheel mounted on the back doors.
Anybody know this vehicle? Nice to see some more pictures.

Maybe it is only mounted on one door? Opening that one first would mean the other one can open?

Well, I'll give you an "O" Level, if you can figure it out you take it off !
Make sure that you're a member of the AA, or RAC, should you get a flat Tyre. Might save you some time.

Well obviously you take it off Just wondered whether the normal handle was still there underneath or whether there was a different type of fitment used.

It's in behind the hub cap..........can't see the advantage myself - perfectly good wheel storage above the tank. The door hinges are not designed to carry that kind of load. And a roof rack on a Traveller??? The thin aluminium roof is not able to support any worthwhile load.......v high risk of denting it...

A bit of a thread revival, but just spotted the same traveller on ebay and the mystery of how the spare wheel fits is solved

OK, it's a 47 years old un-restored Traveller, of course it's going to need some attention. If one ignores that hideous visor contraption then, IMHO, it looks pretty cute. I would not choose a painted steering wheel and heater, but the spare wheel mounting is a neat way of getting extra boot space (or fitting a larger tank); and each to their own as regards style. The important thing is that on a magazine cover it looks great, and publicises that car. I wish them well with the sale, and hope that the new owner will bring it to a few events.

I have the 'Coast' 2015 diary, with this picture on its front cover. It really doesn't help me to organise myself as I just spend my time wondering how awkward it must be to get into the back?
