Hi all
My series ii is now seriously on the road and yesterday I did my biggest trip yet of 25 miles. Not bad for something that was garaged for 40 years!!!!
One problem has arisen , on my trip I encountered along quite steep hill , iNhad to change down into third to mke th decsent bearable , when I put th brakes on hard the front of the car and the steering wheel strafed to judder , not too bad but enough for me to think something needs sorting out.
The whole braking system has been renewed , inc drums cylinders and master cylinder.
Any ideas what it might be?

It could be the front tie rod bushes are worn, do you know if they have been replaced for poly bushes or not?

No they won't have been changed.

Not at all, first time I've done them and it took me a couple of hours to do both, tools out to tools away - and I was being very cautious. I did use ordinary rubber bushes but it's recommended that you use a poly behind the bracket and a rubber one in front to make it easier to get the nut on and compress them.

I have no idea what the thread is about - but it's the other way round.....poly on outside and rubber on inside. So the stronger poly resists the braking forces - but the rubber allows the arm to articulate reasonably easily.
