Re: Passenger door external lock
I'm not sure that many LHD cars had them.

Ah yes I remember reading somewhere about the LHD exports that drivers had to lock from the inside then exit through the RH door to use the key!

Re: Passenger door external lock
The external lock appeared on the passenger door of (RHD) 2 door, convertible and traveller models fairly early in the production of 1098cc models I think. Either at the same time as the later dashboard or slightly before so either 1963 or 1964. Never fitted to 4 door models (or commercials) as far as I know.

Re: Passenger door external lock
I the past I used to own a 1964 2 door and a 1963 Traveller (clap-hands, but one-piece screen) - the 2-door had external locks on both doors, the Traveller only had a lock on the driver's door.ManyMinors wrote:The external lock appeared on the passenger door of (RHD) 2 door, convertible and traveller models fairly early in the production of 1098cc models I think. It was a bit of a bind when I replaced the saloon passenger door, with the Traveller's (just before that one went to the local scrapyard) - took the front wings as well.
Both cars had the open glove-boxes.
