Bonnet support bar / bonnet stay hook.
Any suggestions please . The metal support bar under the bonnet of my Morris minor has come away from its welding points. I am trying to avoid having it re welded as this would most likely result in damaging the paint on the bonnet. Any suggestions please on a repair. Do I need to refit it ? . Is there any other way I could fit an alternative bonnet stay hook ?, Thanks

Do you mean right out at the edges of the bonnet? If so Ive saw one or two that had this edge pop riveted into place and its hardly noticable right on the edge, the pop rivets could be touched in to match and at least it wont burn any paint off. I had to do this after my bonnet blew up once and got twisted and the little spot welds thta hold that edge gave way.
Too many Minors so little time.....

Hi
The same happened to mine and l too was reluctant to refit it and damage a perfectly good painted bonnet
so l removed it totally and fitted a patented bonnet stay ! I made a hinged bracket up and fastened it to the plate on the radiator top with self tapers with a rod fastened then to the hinge - that rests on the bulkhead above the battery - it does the job
Would send you a photo but sorry don't know how to attach one to post ? kept the removed parts to refit at a suitable time
