Spot weld drilling.

Looking for suggestions about the best way to remove - neatly - the spotwelds on panels. I have seen different tools on ebay, from the cheap "stubby" drill bit to This one.

Im looking at removing part of the door hinge posts on my 4 door as there is corrosion at the bottom which extends part way up the forward panel of the post as well as the sill below it.

Ideally I would like to peel away the affected panel so I can fully assess the other panels that are part of the post, I have no problem in replacing the panels where required (the leading panel on the O/S is on my parts list, not sure about the N/S yet, but from my reading it looks as if the post comprises of 3 panels and i'd like to leave any original in place if they are in good shape.

The project has slowed to a crawl now as the easy major body stripping has been done, I think I can salvage the O/S/F wing with a simple repair at the rear lower corner - assuming I can muster the skills to fabricate a repair panel. In my younger days I was pretty good at bodywork (trading in bangers soon taught me the skills needed) So Im trying to get my hand (and eye) in again, I may even buy some decent hammers and a joggler. Id sooner have decent old metal repaired than fibre or pattern parts. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated

Taking a winter over the body repairs should see me ready to lay primer in the spring and give me a lot of time to ponder which power plant to fit.

I usually get the ones from Screwfix, about £8 and lasted well enough for what I needed and I gave them some hammer. Got to be careful not to go all the way through though

I used the a similar tool that you linked, before using it I found drilling a small hole to accommodate the centre pin was necessary, otherwise the tool wandered.

I think the best one by far is the spot weld drill bit. It's a HSS bit but it's flat with a tiny very sharp point in the centre to get it started it just cuts throuh the top metal sheet.

That's the one, same as the Screwfix bit.
