Since I took delivery of the car both doors needed to be pushed tightly shut and then the door handle pulled slightly - the lock plunger would then locate behind the safety catch which had sprung up. Of course I then discovered from the forum that the lock plunger should actually locate on the main cutout of the striker plate forward of the safety catch.
When I tried to adjust the striker plates outwards to allow the plunger to line up with the plate cutout I found that I needed 6mm more adjustment than the captive screw plates would allow - something was clearly wrong.
I then called up the drawings of the door handles and striker plates on the Moss website and sure enough they listed two striker plates, four door or two door although they looked identical.
I fitted the new striker plate to the driver's door after removing the draught excluder to get a bit more room and the door pushed shut at the first attempt, latching in the correct position effortlessly! All I need to do is replace the draught excluder and file the plunger and striker plate to allow for the thickness of the rubber seal. I have posted a photo showing the difference between the two striker plates and you can see where a previous owner has cut the four door plate in an effort to get the door to latch wrongly on the safety catch.
Some suppliers list one striker plate as fitting all models which is obviously incorrect so it pays to do a bit more investigation - I wish I had done so three years ago!! VIVE LE DIFFERENCE!!

I have this exact problem they have to be slammed shut so I think ill have a look and see if mine are like yours
