Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

FINDING a BMC Dealer is the problem!
A few weeks ago I visited my local BL Dealership - wanted a pair of front wings
and a top (of grill) chrome strip - perfectly straight forward order you'd of
thought, but NO, the ONLY items in stock were kitchens, KITCHENS?! I said -
after much shouting I was escorted from the building!
I wrote TWO letters of complaint, one to Cowley, the other Longbridge - eagerly
awaiting their reply!!

Did you borrow the TARDIS to deliver them?........

I had a go at my van plate with a set of stamps I have. IIRC they are 5mm high digits.
I did tis by clamping the plate to a steel bench with a steel bar to act as a guide for under the letters etc to keep a straight line. Not a "machine finish" but I thought it looks authentic 1970's
If you want me to have a doo at yours I will but will be a similar finish to mine. That's masking tape to hide the last 3 digits, I know what you lot are like

Hi all,
Going back to the original post, I needed someone to do a new plate for me so I took the blank to an engraver - tankards, sports medals etc. They did a nice tidy job in the original's style and charged me £4.
