I'm surprised you can still buy N5 plugs! The N9Y is the 'extended nose' equivalent, and generally the preferred option. However the important thing is that you now have new Champions - and I'm sure they will be fine.

Re: miss fire 1098
Well took the moggy out for a spin with new t stat fitted and guess what it still misfired, after 15 miles I took of the new HT leads and put some old copper core leads on as someone said to me they had had a similar problem on a spitfire and as soon as he fitted copper core leads the problem went away,so I thought I've go nothing to loose, only I wasn't quite so lucky.
Going to a classic car meeting tomorrow ,hopefully someone will come to my rescue.

Jaywhy,
You said you resealed your exhaust to the manifold ,do you mean you replaced the manifold gasket between head and manifold,is a leak in this area really going to result in a misfire!

Hi Steve
No I re-sealed the exhaust to the manifold outlet connection fitting a new exhaust manifold clamp. The exhaust was blowing and making the engine run really rough. For what they cost is it worth changing the condenser again, because I was told there been quite a number of rogue ones on the market?

Jaywhy,
Thanks very much for your responce, I to had to remake my exhaust to manifold connection as well,so that done as well.
I have no condenser as I'm using electronic points.
Been out today to a classic car meeting and one chap said it may be worth changing the gaskets between the carb and the manifold and manifold to the head,so I guess that's the next step.
I will keep you all posted.
Thanks
Steve

Did you get anywhere with the mis-fire?

Re: miss fire 1098
Did you replace the rotor arm? I had electronic points fitted and the car conked out on me. As luck would have it this happened on the busiest round a bout in town so I was under a bit of pressure and did the easiest thing I could and put the old rotor arm back in - bingo it fired up, I don't trust the ones that come with the electronic points. Failing that check the engine earthing strap is intact.
