Has this been done?
If 'yes' what is involved?
Why would I ask?
In the UK, if you can't find a good smoothcase gearbox to replace your dud one--or the parts to repair your smoothcase--you would probably upgrade your Minor with a ribcase.
Here, in Australia, ribcase gearboxes are far harder to find. Production of Minors ceased here about the time the ribcase was introduced. The later Spridgets were not sold in large numbers.
Whereas replacements for key internal parts for smoothcase gearboxes are becoming very rare (eg the laygear), the internal parts for the superior ribcase gearbox seem to be readily available.
BTW, I know some Minor owners in Australia have solved the problem by putting 803 box internals into 948 boxes. This seems to be a poor alternative.

Re: Ribcase internals into a smoothcase???
I very much doubt the later parts can be used in earlier smooth boxes. Many differences !
