gearbox in gold colour?

I bought a smooth case gearbox off ebay a month ago which condition was unknown bla bla bla and for spares

The box was black with grime and old oil etc but now ive gunked the thing its gold coloured

was this a 948cc box or from another as the one on the car is just cast ally colour?

It's a Factory Rebuilt unit (Gold Seal) - good as new ! Of course - that may have been 50 years ago..... Take the side cover off (don't lose the little springs..) and have a look at the gears and syncros... Put up a picture if you can !

So this poor gearbox was stuffed once up on a time and rebuilt! blimey i dont think its worth me pulling it apart again
other than to have a look to see how it all works!

No harm looking - and if you post up the pictures of what's inside -we can comment on whether it's worth fitting - or not....
