Has anybody used JDO Instrument Engrs to repair their speedo?

An alternative is Speedy Cables but you will get a complete overhaul.
The cheapest solution would be a second hand speedo from an autojumble

Yes, I actually had my speedo recalibrated to suit my different back axle ratio and non Minor gearbox. Very happy with the service.

Is it worth repairing? Speedos are not expensive on ebay! And if you plan a final drive ratio change anytime soon, it would be a chance to get a suitable matching speedo to keep the miles and speed readings correct.

I have a Ford 5sp box and I'm under the impression that I need a 1000Tpm speedo, which I have, and can't seem to find another of. I have thought of the buy new route but it's finding one - and then won't it need calibrating?

Hmmm -well yes that could be a bit difficult... I think some early Minor speedos are 1000 tpm? Someone who KNOWS will be along soon! Has the spring broken - or just become detached ??

I'm not sure, actually. But it jumps erratically from 10-70mph when I'm moving at a constant walking pace...

The 1000 tpm speedo was fitted to the later Series II Minors - only thing is that the face only goes up to 80 mph.

We also need 1000 tpm for the Toyota 5-spd and rear axle/tyre combination. A very kind person on this forum gave me a KPH outer gold ring with numbers that go up to 120, so now I have a 120 mph speedo as the 'MPH' is printed on the original 1000 tpm head.

Speedy Cables recalibrated just the 'speed' part for the new speed scale, and it is very accurate all the way up. The odometer is still spot on and didn't need changing at all.

Sounds more like a sticking cable or cable drive in the gearbox than a speedo problem. I would try another speedo - even if wrong tpm - to see how it behaves.

The small speedo from the early Series II also has a TPM of 1000. However the 803 box has a different pinion ratio to the rest of the A Series boxes

Looks smart that. Not sure I'd need more than 80!!

I think that's the speedo I have, a gold one, goes up to 80, says 1000 on the inner dial.

I drove a bit today and noticed the odomoter was under counting, actually. Consistently about 15% off.
