Speedo help

I'm fitting a new loom to a friends 1972 pick up and the speedo he has given me does not have an oil warning light light even though the loom has wiring for both the oil switch and filter. Any body know what was originally fitted, my 1955 saloon has a warning light on the speedo.

A picture would help! Even early Mini speedos had a place for an oil warning...... Maybe not orange though? Maybe green??

What is the serial number on the speedo face, this will identify it. The correct speedo for a 72 LCV should have a black face and a TPM of 1504, assuming that it has a 4.55 diff and standard 155/80/14 tyres

The speedo is an 1804 and apart from the obvious main beam and ignition has 2 orange (indicator lights) at 3 and 9 o'clock. As it has an indicator stork with light I will use the orange lights for the oil switch and filter unless he can come up with an correct original one. Thanks for the help.

Not heard of an 1804 speedo.......or do you mean 1408.........? The Orange lights ARE THERE for oil pressure and oil filter warning! They are not 'indicator' lights........

Unless you convert to a canister filter when the filter light will be redundant and you can use it as a trailer indicator warning light. You will also need a towbar

Can someone please advise me how do you take a speedo out of a morris 1968 van.

Welcome to the forum! You should really start a new thread - but this is easy - inside each glovebox liner you will see a hole - and through that you insert a crosshead screwdriver, and slacken the screw you will find on the speedo bracket. Same both sides - then wiggle the speedo towards you - disconnecting the cable/wires/lights as you pull it out. Perhaps disconnect the battery first....
