Hello, I did the master cylinder on mine recently and used another technique which was both safe and effective: I got one two inch wide ratchet strap (just a standard type I use for securing car wheels to my trailer) and fed the loose end between the chassis rails and and both torsion bars then fed it back into the ratchet drum. Now tighten the ratchet and it'll pull the bar out the way of the bolts and lock it there while you work. You can release it nice and slowly without the risk of loosing an eye as we'll! If have the straps with hooks at either end they are designed so they can hook together so you can make a continuous loop and feed the loose end where it needs to go.

Hope this is handy for someone,

Alex.

Looking at the thickness (diameter) of the torsion bar, I'm surprised that it will flex that much to allow removal of the bolt.

The standard bars are surprisingly flexible when fitted, and easily deflect sufficiently to clear the bolts.
