ATS, what make is that ?
Well I've heard it all now my moggy past her test yesterday after fitting a few bits and pieces namely, new swivel arms and trunnions, brake calliper and a track rod end with only two advisories that is front wheel bearing and the classic engine oil leak. So off I go to ATS which is just down the road from me and to a guy that I was told works there that owns an Austin 1100 and a keen classic care enthusiast .I enter the car park and drive up to the reception where upon the workers all turn around to look at me driving up in my pride and joy. I enter the office where I am greeted by a member of the work force and was asked how he can help so I in turn ask for my minor to have the tracking checked .The owner of the 1100 was not in work this day but I was told to take a seat and somebody would be with me shortly. Rightly enough a guy in his late twenties early thirties walked in and asked me "what make and model is the car" ! I new then that I was on a loser. I stated that it was a Morris Minor, off he trundled and came back a few minutes later stating that he'd never heard of the car and neither did the "system ". Oh dear what's the world coming to !

You had a lucky escape! They would have charged you a small fortune. Just make your own 'tracking gauge' - mine is a length of Dexion with two short arms firmly fixed at right angles.

Re: ATS, what make is that ?
He would have been looking on an Autodata app or similar to see what the spec was for toe in/out etc. Autodata apps only list vehicles back to about 1980 ish so Moggie's are not on it.
But toe in si 2.5mm as stated in Moggie manual

Re: ATS, what make is that ?
Hmmm seems that I was asking too much then .So what does the "si" stand for just out of curiosity ? By the way I then took it to a tyre centre which has been a one man band for years and he's a bit of a classic fan and owns an AJS motor bike and he checked it out and although he too didn't know whether it was toe in or toe out but reckoned it was "parallel" and said that it was "4 mm out"
and that it should be ok so should I go back to him and ask him to "toe it in " by what has been recommended i.e 2.5mm?

Re: ATS, what make is that ?
the si is is spelt backwards

I would take it back to him and ask him to please do it right...
Taupe

Re: ATS, what make is that ?
Make sure he centres the steering - by equalising the steering arms in the track rod ends - before he sets the tracking . Is the camber correct both sides??
