The car went round the block once - but there were no hills - it seems a gradient is our enemy in terms of cutting out! We managed about 6 miles before the first cut out and then about 200 yards each other time!
You know, i didn't even think to check the wipers - i'd assumed a place i'd used for a number of years would sort something that apparently simple out relatively easily - so that's my naivety's fault.
in terms of the fuel problem - first few times it restarts with full throttle, but by the 3rd time it won't restart at all - it just clunks the way a dead battery might. It nearly restarted with a bump start, but didn't quite make it.

Re: dying engine....
the garage came back to collect her and now the outside of the fuel bowl is covered in petrol - as is the pipe into / from it - so they're going to see if that's a problem....
they restarted it using the starting handle - a skill i may need to get.

Re: dying engine....
it appears that so called expert garages and minor specialists are failing to provide proper attention
better to get a local enthusiast to have a look they will also take more care
i have had my fair share of so called minor specialists but due to health problems can not do the big stuff myself any more
i am in east london some weekends

Re: dying engine....
If it won't make repeated attempts to restart - it does indeed suggest your battery has reached the end of the line...... Hopefully the garage will get it right this time........
