HIF 38 carb installation

Post by moggiegeek »

Just installed above carb on Maniflow inlet manifold, having finally figured out which of the many brass tubes does what. the problem now is that the Choke cable and the Accelerator cable are both too short to have a proper run to the carb controls which are on the front of the carb on HIF 38/45's. This is more pronounced as the Maniflow inlet is much longer than other inlets. Has anyone encountered this problem and more importantly overcome it?

For the throttle cable, go to a bike (with pedals) shop and get a brake cable of a length suitable. Cut to the length you need. For the choke I bought a new choke cable, for the later cars, which was longer than the original one (cable length (from tip of Knob) 46" (117cm)). Fitted nicely.

Easy to extend the choke - but as above - get a bike cable, and a SPARE to carry in the glove box..........
