I will be very interested to hear what you think of the Maniflow system - presumably you have gone for the larger bore 1275 system? With 2 silencers, with the one at the rear acting as a resonator box, I would expect a deep burble, but not excessive noise.

My son has a 'big bore' Maniflow system on his modified MGB, and that has only one, large, silencer at the rear - the noise level is very acceptable.

Should sound very good, as well as get the most out of the mods that have been done to the engine.

Finally got round to fitting the Maniflow system and I'm glad I took the plunge. The sound is superb, the engine seems much happier too and the car flies(it did before but never seemed right if you see what I mean).I also got rid of the pancake filter and replaced it with a K&N type copy. Will shortly advertise the original type Bosal exhaust system and cut down 1098 manifold if anyones interested. Its as new having done under fifty miles.Includes all clamps and hangers. Will have to check the current price and adjust accordingly.

Must admit I do like my maniflow system on my 1275 (Kent 255 cam, HIF 44 with K & N Filter) - the resonation is not like the standard Minor more like an MGB and it sounds especially good when accelerating in villages/built up areas in 2nd and 3rd where the sound bounces back at you from the walls. It's by no means loud motorbike territory but it does suggest that you are running something out of the ordinary under the bonnet :-)

Completely agree regarding the Maniflow system. After 2 years of messing around with a completely rubbish big bore system from one of the big Minor suppliers (using Marina manifold) I got so sick of the continuously blowing downpipe, and exhaust so badly shaped that it was impossible to hang it so it didn't knock, that I spent a not insignificant sum on the Maniflow system. This is on a tweaked 948 (1030 cc, MG Metro cam, 295 head). The difference is amazing. Performance is hugely increased and the noise level is lower than with a standard system. The LCB certainly hasn't reduced torque, and I'm not exactly running a hot cam! Would thoroughly recommend spending the extra on the Maniflow system.

BTW, the picture at the beginning of the thread doesn't look like an LCB !

I disagree
The illustration is of a LCB. If you look closely you can see the centre pipe from No2 & No3 cylinders is running behind the conjoined pipes for No1 and No4 cylinders and the pipes join up where it is horizontal.

Mmm, you might have got me on that one Phil. If so, it looks like a
n amazingly long centre branch compared to the usual offerings!

See the attached link to see the other side of the LCB manifold which shows the pipe from No: 2 & No3 cylinders in a better light.
http://www.maniflow.co.uk/index.php?vie ... tegory+169

Look at the MG listing for road use exhausts/manifolds/headers. 948cc/1098cc application.
Sorry but I cannot get a direct link to the MG Midget manifold page.
