fuel pipe to pump

Post by MacD »

Hello
I'm fitting a new S.U. fuel pump.Unfortunately the pipe had been cut when it was fitted with a wee rubbish one.
can I put an olive on the end of the pipe to make the connection to the pump and if so does anyone know where I can get one.
I do have one that fits the pipe but the nut slips over the top of it……. could I put a bigger olive behind the smaller olive or would this leak! Do I need to buy a new fuel pipe.Any advice greatly received.

You certainly can't fit multiple olives... Either fit a good rubber pipe connection - or get a new fuel pipe.

There is a specific fitting that is soldered onto the end of the pipe to fit into the pump, it is not an olive based compression joint. If there is sufficient pipe then you can solder the new end on (obvious warnings about heat and petrol!), but it's likely that you'll need a complete pipe.

if you mean fuel tank to pump.
new they are about £18 +
or pump to carb get one from your
local motor factor £5...
both would be a safer bet and easy fit
