Can any of you help ? have had oil light problems for a while - so have now purchased a oil pressure gauge as some of you suggested !
It arrived today ! is this a job l could perhaps manage ? or are there any hidden probs ? looks easy enough to mount the gauge and run the pipe to the required area - but looks a bit tight to get to the switch to remove it from the block ! due to the metal oil pipe and distributor -
That thought went through my mind ! hence the question ? never took a distributor out so perhaps a visit to the local garage ! thought perhaps trying a pair of mole grips on switch - know that would mean a new one - but not a problem it prob needs one anyway
Could poss get mole grips on the body of the switch and hope it may loosen enough to remove switch by hand ? cant seem to get a spanner on the nut part of the switch being up close to the block !
The dizzy is simple! Just undo the two small bolts and DO NOT touch the clamp bolt. And pull! Also note which lead is on #1 plug - put a little tie-wrap round the lead at the plug cap. Marks it for ever as #1....no need to mark the others! And please - no mole grips......
Go on ! you've convinced me to have a try if it s that easy ? will it ever run again ? ha ha ! will prob leave it now till weekend - but promise will try before using mole grips
The use of a crowfoot wrench makes it possible. I made one from a cheap Whitworth wrench. Cut most of the wrench away and made a 1/4 inch square hole for a socket extender. Maybe on your side you can get a Whitworth crowfoot wrench.
Today did manage to remove distributor and get access to oil pressure switch - fitted the T piece and installed a oil pressure gauge too - yes wasn't to difficult - bonus was it started up - ran !¬
Will be able to tell you later ! after doing that little job and then re-webbing both front seats wasn't in the mood for a ride out - " just a hot bath - and some arthritis pills " started it up and was showing 60 psi didn't run it long as was in the garage s o hopefully a ride out later !
and then to find out what l've disturbed ? oil light on clock on permanent now - even with switch dis connected seems I've managed to pick a earth up somewhere ? did have clock out last week to renew h/lt main beam warning light !
