Firstly unscrew the car-width panels about 40mm high that cover the joint between front and rear section of headlining, and similar piece above the rear doors.
Secondly remove the timber strip abopve the side windows each side, covering each side of the headlining, followed by the courtesy light lens.
Thirdly remove the headining from each side of the car - I can't recall how it's fixed
You'll then find that it's hanging on cloth strips nailed to the roof timber crossmembers.
If the lining's coming out for re-use, it's just about possible to remove the tacks and carefully remove the headlining without tearing it. Don't do what I did by reaching this stage then accidentally poke it with a screwdriver.

Reverse the above sequsence to fit the new 'un. If you're struggling to get it taut, boil a kettle underneath, use steam to make the new lining more pliable and stretch before it shrinks taut when it cools down

If you've got a staple gun rather than tacks it's quicker. Also - fold new headlining in half and mark centre of material. Do the same on the roof. It's quite easy to track one way or the other. Hope this helps!
