Definitely an annual MOT.
About 3 years ago, before the exemption came in, the MOT check found a movement in the suspension eye bolt mount in the chassis leg. Nothing visible, but showed up on the 'shaker' test for suspension joints etc.
Stripping it down there were 2 small cracks propagating out from where the tube is welded into the outside of the LH chassis leg - not visible with the eye bolt in place. Obviously would have become visible with time, but do wonder if a more serious failure could have occurred first?
mot exempt morris - annual garage check?

[quote][I agree with you 100% but if you follow the forums there are quite a lot of classic car owners who aren't competent mechanics judging by the questions they ask. For them an MOT is money well spent./quote] indeed just look at how many times the same questions pop up,ie long travel on a brake pedal, simply fixed by adjustment, then comes the question how do you adjust the brakes and on and on. So the non mechanical owners have no idea how to maintain on a regular basis, the mot is the only way that they know there is a fault. Just get it done,I personally would't consider looking at a pre 60 car for sale unless it had a new proper MOT.

I am confident that the car is safe and roadworthy, it would be irresponsible for me to buy and drive one otherwise .also Pete I completely see your point and agree, the mot only tests the car at that point in time. As users and maintainers of classic cars regular maintenance and checking is essential. If I knew of any faults I wouldn't drive until they were rectified. My post was more ablout legal issues I guess.
