Van/pickup austin grille colour.

Post by morris-out »

Hi All.

Having removed the front grille assembly (Austin type) which had swimming pool of salt water and the corresponding rust in that area, I have decided to paint the actual grille. Having looked up images of vans and pickups it seems that they have been painted in various interesting colours and others seem to be chrome. Question.- which was the original colour of these grilles on vans and pickups? Mine seems to vaguely the same colour as the bumper blade - sort of vaguely silvery grey. ESM used to supply a grille in what appears to be primer so I'm assuming that they were intended to be painted.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for that, now to find a greyish silverfish colour to paint my bumper and grille, fortunately the grille is not rusty but looks a bit naff, grey tarmac colour. Maybe it was designed that way because being a workman's vehicle it would be normally dirty, mine is very dirty I blame that saharan dust- its a funny green colour!!

What is "omg" about black, Les? I sold a pink one at the annual bash a couple of years ago. Now if yours were pink......

My saharan dust went a funny green colour too - wonder if it will sprout palm-trees eventually?
