Hi All
Restoring 1966 Morris Minor Van
Can anyone help with a few questions .
Are the seats the same in a van as Saloon/Traveller. I have an early set, with the curved backs and fold down on one side, in at the moment and want to go back to the original spec.
Is the interior light the same as other MM I have no light fitted. Should there be a number plate light.
What style of steering wheel should be fitted and with what horn push?
The speedo has spirals in the centre is this correct or should it be plain?
Someone has fitted new 7 leaf springs and shocks which makes the ride very hard. Any suggestions?
Thank you

I don;t think so, the covers tend to be much plainer for one thing. Are the seats the same in a van as Saloon/Traveller.
Pretty sure it is.Is the interior light the same as other MM
Two spoke, press in horn push, not the sort that has a screw to hold it.What style of steering wheel should be fitted and with what horn push?
Put a paving slab or sack of sand in the backSomeone has fitted new 7 leaf springs and shocks which makes the ride very hard

They do tend to ride better when loaded.

Re: Morris Minor Van 1966 questions
The seats in a van are different to a saloon as the floor is flat in a van and slopes down in a saloon. If you fit saloon seats you will be tilting forward slightly.I drove a pickup with car seats fitted and I felt uncomfortable.
Re: Morris Minor Van 1966 questions
If the springs are too hard (surely 8 leaf for a van?) then just remove a leaf or two till you are happy with it....

Rasputin has already dealt with the need for van frames for the seats (I am wondering if you already have these). Often the passenger seat would be the double-fold type (back folds down on to seat then the seat folds forward so it is easier to get in the back from the passenger door). Covers would usually be black or brown.

The seats are red with cream piping so would think they came out of an early MM. On the look out for some van seats.TFM150K wrote:sidunc2828 wrote:Hi All
