indicator warning light won't stop!

Post by skinnedknuckles »

A few weeks into getting my inherited convertible back on the road after a 10 year rest....

Managed to get the indicators working with plenty of contact cleaner sprayed into the indicator mechanism, but the charming little green light keeps flashing whether or not the indicators are on. Is this likely to be a contacts issue in the indicator stem gubbins or something else ? New flasher unit in place

Any thoughts ?

Cheers :)

It is likely you have fitted a faulty flasher unit. Sadly, these parts are also of poor quality!

Was there anything wrong with the original flasher can? Refit it if you still have it !

That's all working now - old mechanical "clicking" flasher unit replaced, so it was the brand new (electronic?) flasher unit that caused the issue

Dissapointing as I bought it from a well known MM specialist so wasn't expecting a problem

thanks for the help

Why did you fit a new one - if the old one is working perfectly???

I would imagine the electronic one was for negative earth and the car is positive earth (or viceversa). The mechanical one can work both ways but not the new ones.
