Adding a resevoir to top up brake fluid

Post by Gordi »

I'm sure it's been asked already but I want to know is fitting a resevoir to top up fluids difficult to do, I'm learning mechanics ad I go and starting with simple jobs and building confidence etc ... I see I can have it done at C WARE for about 140 pounds , I broke my back years ago so crawling under carpets is something I find painful and quite difficult .... Any suggestion on purchase and where to obtain much appreciated

Gordi,
It's a pig of a job as you will probably have to remove the master cylinder to fit it properly. The kits that are being sold with the black plastic pipe by many of the suppliers are not fit for purpose and should be avoided. The pipe sweats brake fluid.
Here's a link to suitable components.

To install this you have to drill and tap the large blanking plug at the rear of the M/C to take the banjo. This must be done accurately or it will leak. Best done using a lathe.
You also need to replace the existing M/C cap with a non-vented cap or plug/solder the old one.

Seriously - there is NO need for this - yes, I understand your note about crawling about etc - but it really only needs checking a couple of times per year......and some of the remote kits are 'troublesome'.... £140 at CW....good grief........
