body stripe
Hello guys newbie here with a '61 convertible conversion.It is smoke grey with light blue trim. What would be the original coach line colour? also the front screen pin for the hood is loose and won't tighten up can I get under the rail on a conversion to see whats going on? Thanks!

One of the best people to talk to about post production convertibles would be canterbury convertibles. Their contact details are in the club mag if you need them.can I get under the rail on a conversion to see whats going on?
Smoke grey coachline colour... Erm I've never taken much notice to be honest (I never had much interest in the light blues), but hopefully someone will know.

The coach line for a smoke grey car should be BLUE (darker than
the car). Re the conversion hood pins, the genuine convertibles
have captive nuts inside. You need to investigate wether your car
is using self tappers or proper threaded screws. If threaded screws
it seems likely that the captive nuts are turning. Be careful because
if both hood pins are loose then you could have the hood fly back
with disastrous consequences! The top rail should have been
welded together so access is not possible.

Hi and welcome to the board!
When I did my conversion, I had to weld a couple of thick metal plates onto the underside of the top rail, before welding the two halves of the rail together.
When it came to fitting the hood pins, I had to drill and tap through the rail into the plates.
Hopefully the plate hasn't come loose in your case
Take one screw out at a time so that the plate is held in place.
It may be be a case of;-
1) longer screws (assuming the threads are ok)
2) drilling and re-tapping the plates slightly over-size
or
3) You could use 'Riv-nuts' or similar.
These are like a normal 'pop' rivet but with a thread down the middle.
You do not need access to the back of the panel with these!

All Smoke Grey Morris 1000s had a very vibrant blue line, like a light primary block-blue:
