Just wondered if anyone has use a good one and can recommend it.
I have cleaned the sears and tried mer and auto glym vinyl restorer/cleaner but they are rubbish.
Some one told me about vinyl dye, I think I saw it on wheeler dealers. Is it any good. My car is smoke grey and the interior is the original I think, whick is a light blue/grey
Thank you
Nikki

Well do you want to clean it or paint it?Are you saying they havent come clean or you cant get 'em to shine after cleaning them? You can get no end of colours in vinyl sprays designed to recolour your seats.Halfords sell it in limited colours and there are companies on Ebay doing a whole range of colours. If they're not coming clean use something stronger to clean them. The dirt cheap bathroom cleaner sprays are great at shifting ground in filth.

Re: vinyl restorer
A bit of both really, I used my trusty steam cleaner and some washing up liquid. They are clean but still a little grubby, but they are 50 years old
. I might take the plunge and get a paint then see what it looks like.
Just wanted a near match,
Thank you

If you look through this thread a member dyed his seats with very good results: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... 2&start=15

I would be wary of using the 'steam' cleaner on vinyl! Also don't apply anything 'waxy' if you hope to get paint to stick in future....

Re: vinyl restorer
To clean into the grain, I've used washing powder and a nail brush. Also flash floor cleaner. For re-painting the seats, the kit I used had a pre-painting stuff that was a very effective cleaner, made the vinyl look like new.

Vanish and a good nail brush is hard to beat
plus a large can of elbow grease

Didn't think of vanish. Used 2 tubs just to clean the carpets. Will have to give the suggestions a go. They are pretty clean, they just have 50 years of ingrained dirt

Vanish works very well -use a nail brush to work it into the dirtier places. Wash off afterwards and leave to dry naturally.
