I am fairly new to owning a Morris Minor but the car has been in our family for years. At the last MOT one of the rear lights had stopped working and although the garage cleaned it up again for my Dad he thought replacement bulb holders would be a good idea. I took them apart last night a found a couple of issues, one was water ingress that had corroded the fitting and must be ancient as the car has been garaged for years and rarely get wet, the other being a faulty bulb holder which let the bulb pop back out again- this was probably the MOT failure item as I know my Dad would have checked the lights before setting off.
Under each bulb holder was a circular metal plate, one of which was badly corroded and jagged around the edge so needs to be replaced. I've looked in the Morris Minor Centre and Moss parts guides and can't see this plate in the lamp assembly diagrams. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement from?
Should add it's a 1971 vehicle.
Many thanks
Neil

I'm not aware of separate metal plate. It could be that it is part of the bulb holder that has come adrift with corrosion.
http://www.autoelectricalsupplies.co.uk/ do a number of Lucas bulb holders and this might be the cheaper option to replacing the whole thing.
I'd certainly replace the " rubber bits " to prevent any further ingress of water.A smear of Vaseline on the rubber during re-assembly doesn't go amiss either.

P.S the link is playing up at the moment so search for Auto Electrical Supplies.

Re: Traveller rear lights
I know the part you mean, its helps hold the rubber tight against the wood so the glass sits better in the rubber. Ive never saw new ones for sale and cant see them listed on ESM site either, it may be worth a phone call to see if they stock them.
Too many Minors so little time.....

Re: Traveller rear lights
I had similar problem with my van rear lights. The plate is shown in the BMC parts catalogue. To saveme posting it all again here's a link to my van pages. I eventually made 4 rings for behind the bulb holder and 4 for behind the body to self tap screw to, although as you are fixing to wood you won't need the behind ones.

Thanks Drivewasher (and others), that's exactly the part I was talking about. Now I know where to look it is part number AAA2202
Found for sale in Denmark at 51 K each, at 9 Kroner to the pound plus shipping.
Looks a reasonable enough job to cut a new one from some sheet steel I think though from your guide.
