Door internals

Post by swampy42 »

Hello
The doors are back on the traveller now, but I’m a little concerned that the drain hole(s) in the bottom of the door aren’t really up to the job any more. They have become partially blocked with the amount of crud in there etc. I’m going to have to drill some more drain holes I guess, but was wondering if there is also another, recognised way I’m not aware of, to lengthen the life of the door bottoms -waxoyl for instance, but I suppose that would just block the holes again. This must be a common problem - any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

As long as they aren't blocked completely they will be fine, poking through with stiff wire will keep them clear.

More drain holes the better, the door weather strips do nothing for keeping the rain and water from running in the doors, remember to dinitrol, supertrol or oil the inside of doors, waxoyl isn't the best and dry's over.... I always fill them up and let the excess drain out of the doors into catch containers !

Touch glass window seals do a much better job of keeping the water out, I think the felt ones are just to stop the window rattling too much :)

Thanks for the replies guys.
Touch Screen seals sound like a no brainer really. Surprised they didn’t fit them originally.
Thanks for the tip on the oil as well - will do a bit of research into it this weekend.
Cheers
