Whitworth and AF

I am still on the look out for some sockets so following this closely.

I have managed to commandeer a good selection of AF and Whitworth spanners which turned out to be in my Dad's garage not having been used since the sale of their Marina about 30 years ago!

3/8" square drive are ok for small sizes - and handy for getting in to tight spaces - but 1/2" square drive are very much stronger and should be your aim... Interesting that this (and most wheel rim sizes) have not been metricated.... Although I do believe tyres are referred to as 'size 15' etc and not as 15 inch......

I was in the diy shop last week when someone came in for a lenght of 3x2 timber, when asked how long he replied "1metre 8 & 1/2 inches"

Dropped into the main CAF site, on way to work this morning, and they do sell a 9 piece Whitworth socket strip, 1/2" drive but at £21.95 (would be a bit less with a CAF Club card).
I mentioned to the staff that the CAF website returns no items if you enter SOCKETS (or variations thereof) as a search keyword.
The sockets are made/sourced by "Laser".

There are quite a few Whitworth socket sets on 'e' bay with BUY IT NOW prices including a very nice Britool set at a very nice price too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
