How does you car sound? Have you just one box in the center? I'm about to do something with my exhaust ASAP, was looking at maniflow but there all twin box systems :x

When I first started racing my Minor there was no requirement for a silencer. The 998cc full race motor then fitted had a LCB and just a straight pipe coming off it exiting just under the back N/S. Sounded lovely. My 1380cc full race motor now has a 2" LCB and a competition silencer exiting under the N/S. Still sounds lovely but not as pleasant as an open exhaust!!!!

We have a 2" O/D exhaust all the way from the LCB manifold to the back. We have 3 Jetex straight through silencers to keep the noise at a comfortable level for road work, but it still gets a nice 'note' at 5,000+. At Goodwood last Monday we only just passed the static noise test with 97db, against their track day limit of 98db!

Maniflow suggest 2" only for 100bhp+, and caution that it will be noisier than their standard 'big bore' LCB, which is 1.625" OD.

This link will give you some idea about the noise level from Goodwood last Monday - my son Julian was driving, and he is quite gentle with his mum's car!! The last clip is more typical as the track had dried out.

What class or series is it that pits the Minor, a low budget family car, against more modern stuff and sports cars?

I think it's just a track-day, but certainly looks like good fun! :)

Sounds like a good plan, otherwise mums car could get a right thrashing when the red mist descends :)

As the Minor has 1380 Midget engine, it is allowed 'honorary' membership of MG's on Track (MGoT), which is part of the MG Car Club and organises track days around the country. Great fun and very sociable as well.

Link to the in-car video of the last Goodwood session - dry track and me driving this time!

So the sound bounces back at you? I did that to my old black cab, if you seen some people you didn't like you booted it and literally covered them in black soot
