The Real Thing???

Post by Boomlander »

[frame]Image[/frame]
Hi Folks,
Just bought this windscreen trim which was supposedly from a Series Two Split Screen but it is a good deal wider than my car's windscreen and just doesn't fit! I also only paid £35 for it which was unexpectedly cheap.
Can anyone identify it from the photo as a later trim from a one piece screen?
Thanx. :-?

Just been out and measured mine. Morris 1000 single screen about 1130 mm across and a split screen 530 mm X 2. The fact that it has a curve would suggest it is from a later model. Did you get the joiners as well. Splitties have a very slight V and the single screen models are straight. I hope you can get you money back if you re-sell them or return them.

Allan

The overall width is approx 1140mm and the two joint pieces are straight.
Looks like the trim is definitely not from a series two. :(
Thanks very much for your help Allan. :D

Just searched Ebay and found two more identical screen trims, both listed as removed from single piece screen morris 1000.
Enquiries to the seller of my "Split Screen Trim" have begun and all being well I should be able to get a full refund through paypal.
Probably a genuine mistake but if that is not the case the seller will incur my "Mild Displeasure".[frame]Image[/frame]

If they are the correct height - surely you can just shorten to suit?

That's a very good point Roy but as far as I know the Morris 1000 trims are not adaptable to fit the Split Screen series two.....unless anyone has made the change and could advise us of the possibility? :-?

Just checked the dimensions against my existing trims and the height also differs by about 25mm, there is no way to adapt or cut the Minor 1000 trims to fit a split screen that I can see. :(

The seller has apologised for the misleading listing and agreed to refund my payment.
The search continues for a decent set of split screen trims! :D
