Mini power tools
I'm looking for a grinder to cut away a really inaccessible bolt, and considering (a) Dremel 4000 or 395, (b) Black & Decker RTX, or (c) Proxon FBS230. I need mains operation and heavy duty cutting within a confined space. Does anyone have any experience/recommendation regarding the above tools, or can you recommend any other similar device? Thanks.

Re: Mini power tools
Hi,
Have you considered or it it feasable to use a flexible drive shaft on a standard drill? Heres one,

From experience I have found the grinding bits on a mini power tool to be too soft and may just disintergrate when any pressure is applied while grinding.

Re: Mini power tools
Any chance of a pic to show the 'scale of the problem'. I've used a power file (size of a finger) before to grind down metal studs effectively. Is it a nut that needs freeing? How about a nut splitter?
Re: Mini power tools
I'd thought of a powerfile too, but hoped that the other tools might be quicker and offer easier access. The item to be removed is a circular head with a hex socket (ie, you would use an allen key to move it). The bolt is a 12mm thread and the allen key to fit is 10mm. However, half the head is recessed. and there is only 1 inch between the head and an immovable casting. Can't get a photo until next weekend, but clearly it was never designed with maintenance in mind! It's already had releasing fluid, heat, and (with an extension bar) an impact driver. Now it's going to be grinding and drilling - if I can get the correct tool.
