Removing heater fan
Anyone know how to get the heater fan off it's motor?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Removing heater fan
which heater do you have ?
the box shape one has the fan held on with a nut or a spring clip.

Re: Removing heater fan
Its the late type. Looks like a plastic thing with a wrapped around piece of metal - all rusted beyond recognition!

Managed to get the metal circlip off, still stuck though..

i used a very small screwdriver and prized it off.
give it a coat of oil and clean best you can first.
it will come off
Re: Removing heater fan
Put everything back together and back in. Huge leak in the heater element! Hardly touched it but its never worked well at all. Maybe clearing out the pipes just exposed the already dodgy element.
Looked near new when I took it out though, very annoyed that I'm going to have to do it all again!
Wish I'd tested before screwing everything back together...

Re: Removing heater fan
It wasn't working though! The thing was blocked somehow. No leaking but produced heat slower than the fan cooled it down.
Re: Removing heater fan
I would just have flushed without dismantling - indeed without even removing it from the car. Gives you an excuse now to get a v much better Mini heater..... Several cheap on ebay - but expensive postage - but maybe you can find one close to you.

I think you're right. It's nice and shiny now but I dared disturb it! Buying a mini heater is cheaper than buying just a matrix so it's upgrade time.bmcecosse wrote:I would just have flushed without dismantling - indeed without even removing it from the car.
