1968 door adjustment
am a new member - morris 1000 owner and am struggling a little to adjust doors - "can anyone help" ? have managed to adjust hinges - by shimming hinges - door fits quite well accept for the top of the door hitting the rear aperture ! was thinking of winding down the window and trying to push the frame forward - but " how far can l push ? and will l achieve what is needed " thanks in anticipation " Dave

Re: 1968 door adjustment
Forget the frames - remove them even! Get the main part of the door fitting perfectly, then worry about frames later.

Re: 1968 door adjustment
There are 2 nuts underneath the quarter light (fiddly to get at but just enough room think they are 7/16) that hold the door top on and another below the window winder that holds the bottom of the frame to the door as well as 3 on the door edge under the rubber grommets, slacken these off a little and you may be able to push it forward a little.
Too many Minors so little time.....

How big a gap ? and is it even.. all around the window part or just the outside / door handle end sticking out ?
Yes, you can persuade the window frame part over .. a little.
With the door glass fully lowered ..of course... you can try easing it inwards gently.I "G "cramped two wide ( 4/6 inches ) wooden battens diagonally across the window top corner.( as in..top right hand corner offside, sitting in the car , left hand top corner for the nearside).
The secret is a little at a time. There is more to get hold of and the batten spread/ distributes the force over a wider area.Take the battens of...check progress.Replace battens and continue. It's a bit of a faff but better than over cooking and breaking something.Move the batten position as appropriate.
