clutch pedal advice

Post by dalgrae »

I am overhauling the clutch/brake pedal box on my early series 2 as it was totally shot, I have so far made a new cross shaft rebushed the brake pedal and chassis rails and made a new brake pedal fork and master cylinder rod , my question is what stops the clutch pedal from coming up too high , on the later series 2 with the respaced pedals there is a flat plate welded to the pedal with a softish rubber pad which I assume rests under the mastercylinder /gearbox removeable steel cover when the pedal is released . On my car does the pedal just rest against the the sleel master cylinder / gear box cover on a metal to metal basis, as I reckon that the clutch return spring will try and pull the pedal back as far as it can until it hits something
