Bootlid

Post by stag36587 »

I spent most of this afternoon trying to get my repaired secondhand bootlid to fit but it really doesn't and even worse with the seal fitted. Basically on the right hand side it just will not sit level with the bodywork so I'll look for a replacement.

However, can I just check how the chrome boot latch is attached to the boxing panel. Does it sit on top of the boxing panel or between the two skins. Would there originally have been some sort of captive nut arrangement or just bolted through?

Many thanks

The chrome catch sits on the top and 3 bolts go down into a captive plate that is sandwiched between 2 layers, this bit doesnt come with the repair section and you need to take it out of the old bit and slide in. Easy enough to make a bit thought from flat iron if you have dumped it.

Heres a pic from google of the plate and catch.
