Ford Ka 2007 1300 engine in Morris Minor ?

Post by colindodds »

I have a 1961 Morris minor 998cc and was wondering if a Ford Ka 2007 1300 engine would fit into the Minor ? and if so what gearbox would I need to mate to the Ford Ka engine ?

Welcome to the forum Colin - I suppose anything is possible, but this is far from a straightforward conversion.... Most of us just use a Marina 1275 engine if we want additional capacity.

The 1.3 Enduro Engine :)

The engine iteself is pretty bullet proof, but I would be looking for one from a pre '95 fiesta because there is no engine management/immobiliser issues. Its also only 60 HP, which is a worthwhile upgrade is not as good as the 1275 A series!

If you do want to do down the KA engine route - a type 9 gearbox SHOULD bolt up, but I don't know what clutch you would need to use

Good luck.
Will bolt up to a Type 9 box so at least there's at least a drivetrain option although you'll presumably need a spigot bearing and clutch setup from a sierra engine or similar to convert to RWD??

Given the effort required you'd be better off with the 1.25 Fiesta engine imho, might as well put something worthwhile in there.
What would Macgyver do..?
